They say that "High school life is the best!" I didn’t believe this at first because when I just graduated from grade school, I have said to myself that elementary life was the best. But, I’ve thought that it was just the first part of my life as a student. When I went to high school, I have said to myself that it was also the best! I can’t immediately conclude that it was best among all because there’s still another life that awaits us in the near future and we definitely don’t know what good things are in store for us.
Adolescence occurs in high school. New challenges welcome you and there are many enjoyable experiences that certainly you’ll never forget. I am now a graduating student, and it seems like it was just yesterday when I entered the portals of this university. It is such a blessing for me to be studying in this kind of school.
Oh! I remember my first day here, I saw Ralph Zambrano wearing the school uniform while all of us were in our casual attires. And during the orientation, I had slept soundly because honestly, I was bored of Dr. Ereno’s lecture. Everyone saw me, and their boisterous laughter surrounded the room. It was fun, though. I can also remember our first year adviser, Mme. Nellas, who wrote a red mark in my report card. It was so disappointing because I haven’t got any failing mark ever since I was in grade school and now, I have already felt the feeling of being pricked by a thorn of a rose. I really feared that moment because I thought that I would already say goodbye to UP. But fortunately, I passed and I managed to step to the next level. Whew! I was so relieved that time.
In my second year, I was really confused with my actions because it was the beginning of my puberty stage. I often experience bad luck but in spite of all those difficulties I had encountered, I still passed. I can merely say that there are rarely significant experiences in my sophomore days.
In the following year—my junior year here in UP High, the spark of my high school life started to spice up. I really enjoyed this year a lot because I had known all my batch mates more and more and I really enjoyed our company. Like in Christmas, our batch enjoyed the season a lot and treated ourselves as brothers and sisters. It’s like we are one. We have discovered the true value of friendship.
And last but not the least, the last year of my high school life—my senior year is the most unforgettable of all. It is a really great experience to be a senior because you feel superior to the lower years. All of us are like real brothers and sisters. We share our belongings with each other. We share the same books, calculators and notes. We stand together! Whenever there are things that need unity and cooperation, we really put our best foot forward.
It is really fun and I will never forget my life in high school. Oh! How I wish that I could turn back the time and cherish the moments of laughter we had, the arguments, fights and times of victory and defeat. But, all I can do is move on and keep this marvelous memory in my heart that will truly inspire me to live life to the fullest.
Most of all, I will never forget my friends who were always there for me when I needed someone to cheer me up and who accepted me as "Janua" from the beginning until the end.
High school life… It’s one of the greatest moments for a person to cherish. And truly, being an Iskolar ng Bayan here in UP High is indeed a very unforgettable experience.
